4-biphenylzinc bromide solution - Introduction

4-Biphenylzinc bromide, chemical formula C12H9BrZn, is an organic zinc compound. It is a white solid, soluble in organic solvents such as dimethylformamide and tetrahydrofuran.

4-Biphenylzinc bromide is mainly used for reductive coupling reactions in organic synthesis reactions. It can be used as a substitute for Grignard reagents and plays a role in the synthesis of carbon-carbon bonds in the reaction of substrates such as alkenes, alkynes and alcohols with aromatic halides. In addition, it can also be used for the synthesis of organometallic complexes and other catalytic reactions in organic synthesis.

A common method for preparing 4-Biphenylzinc bromide is to react biphenyl mercury and zinc bromide. The specific reaction conditions may be that zinc bromide is gradually added to the stirred biphenyl mercury solution under the protection of nitrogen, and the reaction temperature and reaction time are controlled.

Regarding safety information, 4-Biphenylzinc bromide should be handled with caution in organic synthesis laboratories. It has certain toxicity, contact with skin, inhalation or ingestion may cause health problems. Appropriate personal protective equipment, such as lab gloves and goggles, should be worn during operation. Ensure good ventilation and avoid contact with other chemicals.
